It’s winter as I write this. The ground is covered in a blanket of snow and everyone is bundled up in heavy winter coats, scarves wrapped snugly around their necks, fuzzy mittens on their hands, and their feet encased in warmly insulated boots.

As a child, I loved going out in the snow, building snow forts, having snowball fights with my brothers and sisters, and sledding down the steep hill near my house. We skated on the nearby pond, and made snow angels on the front lawn.

Winter was my favorite time of year as a child, but there is something about having to shovel for hours, get your car out of a ditch due to icy conditions, and pay exorbitant heating bills that changes your view of the snowy season when you are an adult.

Rather than dreams about skating and skiing, I find I have more dreams about pristine beaches and beautiful blue waters; of relaxing in a chaise lounge holding a glass of something colorful with a festive umbrella, reading a book.

Ah, a tropical paradise - yes, please!

When I think of a tropical paradise, my mind immediately goes to bright colors, the sound of waves gently lapping a shore, and birds and flowers that awaken my senses.

There are many locations that fit the bill of tropical paradise. The Caribbean Islands contain some of the most beautiful beaches anywhere in the world.

A number of islands make up this cluster known as the Caribbean Islands. Each island has its own unique flavor and culture.

One of the most iconic tropical paradises is the island of Hawaii. Hawaii offers a mainland and islands. The variety of magical beaches have different colors of sand. Green, pink, red, and black may be found depending on the area.

Hawaii also offers great sporting opportunities like surfing, snorkeling, hiking, cycling, sailing, kayaking, swimming, and of course the option to take it easy sitting on a beach looking out at the paradise before you.

The food, music, hula dancing, and luaus are some of the wonderful aspects that characterize the Hawaiian vacation.
